Why Use Tags

The social space that I have chosen is Reddit. I visit the site daily, sometimes several times a day. It is such a maze because it has many communities and sub communities called subreddits. I have not chosen a community to identify with yet. There is an awful lot of information there. Users are sharing information through discussions, blogs, and photos.

Tags are needed to organize and manage this massive amount of information. They provide a convenient way for users to search for information. Categories and tags work well together. Tags describe details about a blogpost but categories describe a subject or topic.

On the other hand, I think some of the users are mean spirited and petty.They argue back and forth, tit for tat, like children. Personally, I think a lot of them live their lives on reddit and that is a sad commentary for a life.
